INSIDE THE TECH TANK WORKSHOP

The TechTank 2025 Pre-Hackathon Workshop, conducted at RV College of Engineering in Bengaluru, was an engaging and insightful session designed to prepare students for the upcoming TechTank hackathon. Jointly organized by the ACM RVCE Student Chapter and Google Developer Groups RVCE, the workshop aimed to equip participants with a strong foundation in technical development, product design, and entrepreneurial thinking required to build scalable and impactful solutions.
Event Highlights
Introduction to TechTank and product-driven innovation
The workshop began with an overview of the TechTank concept, inspired by the Shark Tank model of innovation. Participants were introduced to the importance of not just generating ideas, but also evaluating feasibility, scalability, and real-world impact.
Students explored key concepts such as identifying market needs, addressing scalability challenges, and aligning technical decisions with long-term business goals, setting the stage for a product-oriented approach to hackathons.
Industry insights and expert sessions
The workshop featured experienced industry professionals who shared insights from both startup and enterprise environments, including Utsav Singhal, Arshdeep Singh, and Sargun Kohli.
The morning session, led by Utsav Singhal, focused on real-world challenges in scaling technology products. Participants learned about infrastructure limitations, market readiness, scalability bottlenecks, and product lifecycle planning. The session also covered business pipelines and strategies for building sustainable startups across both B2B and B2C markets.
Hands-on learning and design thinking
The afternoon session emphasized practical learning, introducing participants to workflow design and UI/UX prototyping. Students worked with tools like Figma to understand collaborative design practices and user-centric development.
Participants actively engaged in designing and presenting their ideas, receiving constructive feedback from the speakers. This helped them refine both their technical implementations and overall product vision.
Interactive session and mentorship
The workshop concluded with an interactive Q&A session, where students engaged with the speakers to gain insights on entrepreneurship, product development, and career growth. The open discussion allowed participants to clarify doubts and gain practical guidance for their hackathon journey.
